SITUATION & OBJECTIVE
The Lindi Jumbo Graphite deposit in Southeastern Tanzania boasts some of the world’s highest grade coarse flake graphite deposits. Graphite is pivotal for numerous applications in the automotive, manufacturing, and electronics sectors.
The premium grade and extensive distribution of graphite flakes presented a significant commercial advantage for Lindi Jumbo in terms of cost reduction and superior metallurgical performance. Being first to market with their high-demand premium flake concentrate, Lindi Jumbo fast-tracked the development despite the grid connectivity through Tanesco. The mine’s CEO noted that even a slight 5% downtime translates to substantial opportunity costs, making a robust backup power solution essential.
SOLUTION
HIMOINSA was selected as the turnkey power continuity supplier for the project, coordinated through EPC contractor JINPENG. HIMOINSA delivered 4 x HTW1260 Generators with Mitsubishi engines, collectively offering 4MW capacity to ensure N+1 redundancy, essential for optimal fuel efficiency, peak demand handling, and step-load spikes during grid outages.
